Social Media Comments Guidelines

We welcome your comments on the Morris Library Facebook page and other Library Affairs-sponsored social media sites. We encourage you to submit your comments, suggestions, questions, and concerns, but please note that these sites are moderated online discussion forums.

Please remember that when you post a comment on the Morris Library Facebook page or tag Morris Library or another part of Library Affairs in a photo or status update, your post is public and will be visible to all who visit the Morris Library Facebook page. Make sure that you are comfortable sharing the content of your comment or tagged post with the public before adding them.

Once posted, Library Affairs reserves the right to delete submissions that contain vulgar language, personal attacks of any kind, or offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, religious, or gender group or create a hostile environment for users of Library Affairs' spaces, its social media pages, or other webpages. Library Affairs also reserves the right to delete comments that are:

  1. in violation of University policy (see especially Student Conduct Code, 8. Disruptive Behavior, p. 70, https://srr.siu.edu/_common/documents/student-conduct-code.pdf);
  2. spam or promote commercial or non-commercial services;
  3. off-topic;
  4. advocate illegal activity;
  5. promote political organizations;
  6. mis- or disinformation shared with the intent to harm;
  7. disclosures of confidential information or personally identifiable information;
  8. infringe on copyrights or trademarks; or,
  9. violate any local, state, or federal laws and/or are otherwise illegal.

Library Affairs also reserves the right to close comments at any time on any or all of its social media sites.

Comments expressed on social media sites do not reflect the opinions and/or positions of Library Affairs or Southern Illinois University Carbondale, its officers, or its employees.
