A rare 19th century copy of Dante's Inferno with wood-engraved prints by Gustave Dore will be shown at an open house at 3pm Monday, March 25, in Morris Library's Special Collections Research Center. The book will be available for viewing and Morris Library staff will answer questions about the volume and recently finished preservation work on it.

The engravings in this version of the Inferno are some of Dore's finest work.

The book was in disrepair after many years of heavy use in 2012 and restoration was begun in June of that year by Conservation Lab Supervisor Kate Harrison. It was completely rebound and work on it was finished in February, 2013.

Because of this work, the Inferno and Dore's engravings will be preserved for far into the future.
