The inaugural event of this year’s Imagining Geographies program, “Southern Illinios: Land, Lives, and Art" will be held in the John C. Guyon auditorium and the Rotunda from 5:30 to 9:00pm on Tuesday, March 5, 2013.

The event will feature a keynote lecture entitled “Land Matters: Landscape Photography, Culture, & Identity” by Professor Liz Wells of the University of Portsmouth. The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion and a reception.

The event will also provide an opportunity to view the centerpiece exhibit for Imagining Geographies, "The Southern Extent: Maps of Southern Illinois", which will be installed in the Rotunda. This exhibit is curated by Sarah Lewison and features images of maps from Morris Library's Map Library and Special Collections Research Center.
