Provenance
The Christian Century Foundation Photographs were donated to Southern Illinois University with the records and manuscripts of the Christian Century and Christian Ministry magazines by the Christian Century Foundation in 1973, 1977, and 1981.
Scope and Content
This collection of photos from the Christian Century Foundation complements manuscript Collection 36, Christian Century Foundation Records. The collection includes 477 photos divided into three series contained in two boxes. (.4 cu. ft.) Series one includes photos of Christian Century editors Fey, Hutchinson, Gill, Geyer, and Marty. Four hundred nine photos of Christian Century contributors, correspondents, or public figures comprise the second series. Included are photos of Robert McAffe Brown, Karl Barth, Pearl Buck, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Geoffrey F. Fisher (archbishop of Canterbury), Billy Graham, Martin Luther King Jr., Reinhold Neibuhr, Joseph Sittler, Albert Schweitzer, Helmut Thielicke, and Pual Tillich. The third and final series contains photos of medals, churches, book covers, the Christian Century logo, and pictures that accompany an article by Harold Fey (C.C. ed. 1955-1964), “Infantry Chaplain in Korea”.
